Cleansing Chlorella Smoothie

I have recently been tested for Mercury toxicity and it appears that I have mercury levels six times higher than normal. Now I know the reason behind my chronic fatigue, and a number of other unpleasant symptoms that I have been experiencing for a while.

I have also learned that at this time, there is no specific cure for mercury poisoning. 

Luckily I have recently been listening to my Integrative Nutrition lectures, and in one of these lectures Paul Pitchford, the author of Healing with Whole Foods, speaks about the magical properties of Chlorella. Apparently Chlorella absorbs and removes toxins and heavy metals from the body. 

For those of you who don’t know, Chlorella is a microscopic single-celled type of algae that was probably one of the first organisms here on earth. Chlorella is rich in vitamins, minerals and trace elements. It contains the highest amount of chlorophyll per gram than any other plant on Earth! And chlorophyll is known as a powerful antioxidant, cleanser and detox with anti-inflammatory properties. 

Here are some Commonest Sources of Heavy Metal Toxicity:

  1. Fish (Mercury)
  2. Commercial Meats (aluminum)
  3. Cigarette smoke (cadmium)
  4. Hard water, hot tubs and swimming pools (copper)
  5. Non-organic Fruits and vegetables have high levels of toxic heavy metals due to pesticide residue. 

Organic foods are known to have lower levels of contaminants and pesticide residue in them. 


To sum up, I advise to buy organic produce and start adding Chlorella powder to your smoothies, juices and hot beverages. Matcha and Chlorella work great together. Or alternatively start taking Chlorella in tablets or capsules as a daily supplement. 

Paul Pitchford recommends to get the cleanest Chlorella possible, to remove toxins more efficiently. (Sun Chlorella or Prime Chlorella)
